Tips for Having a Great Session

  1. Choose at least one dressy outfit (the parent/grandparents' favorite).
  2. This might be a dress, a skirt set, a pantsuit, or a super-cute jumpsuit or romper. It should be something you feel FABULOUS wearing.
  3. Choose at least one dressy casual outfit. This might be an outfit you’d wear for a holiday get-together or for church.
  4. This could be anything from the above list to white jeans and a pretty top. The range of possibilities is endless.
  5. Perhaps, pick one outfit that says, “This is who I am.” This could be something trendy, something casual, or something uniquely you. Express your style.
  6. Your options could be flowy dresses, fitted dresses, tailored suits, shorts, skorts, jeans, joggers, skirts, etc. I’ve seen prom dresses, activewear, graphic tees, flannel, hoodies, and favorite sweaters selected.
  7. Sports jerseys and other sports/spirit group attire can be used.
  8. Cap and Gown. With a selection to choose from many area schools, wear one of mine, or bring your own. Don't forget something to wear beneath the cap and gown. I’ve seen it all… from white or colored graduation dresses to T-shirts and jeans.
  9. Try on your outfits prior to your session, and collect all pieces.
  10. You might want to bring safety pins or a stain stick.
  11. Accessories-
  • Remember to bring proper undergarments for each outfit.
  • Earrings and other jewelry for each outfit. Tip: Place your selections in a small plastic zipper bag and attach them to the hanger for organization.
  • Bring your class ring if you purchased one.
  • Bring shoes to match the outfit. (I always say to wear comfortable shoes to walk in, something you can slip on and off easily, and "carry your pretties." Blisters during a session are no fun.)
  • Statement heels or boots provide extra pizzazz to your outfit, while sneakers or sandals might complement a more casual look.
  • Consider adding a hat to your selection. It gives variety to your images. (Even if you think you can’t wear a hat, believe me, you can!)
  • You might like a floral crown or a bouquet for some shots
  • Add a little bling with a sparkly belt
  • Headbands and other hair accessories add variety to your look.
  • Maybe try a trendy jacket
  • If you have a letterman jacket for some shots, maybe bring a ball, too.
  • Sassy shades can add a nice touch.
  • T-shirts with your university's logo, pennants, or socks with your university’s logo are options.
